Whether it’s a one day event or a week-long celebration, there are a number of music festivals and performances taking place throughout Saskatchewan over the summer. From jazz, rock, folk, country or any other musical style to suit your taste, each festival is unique in what it has to offer. With so many to choose from, here is a regional guide to help make it easier to decide which music events to attend this summer.
Regina and Area
JazzFest Regina
Location: Regina – Various Venues in the Downtown Area
JazzFest Regina 2009 will present world-class jazz musicians throughout the city over an entire weekend. Venues will include the Regina Inn and Victoria Park. Come check out some great music in a great city.

Regina Folk Festival
Location: Regina – Victoria Park
This unique festival will light up downtown with exciting people, wonderful music and great food. Enjoy the weekend in the park and an incredible festival experience. Concerts will be taking place from Friday to Sunday.

Saskatoon and Area
SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival
Location: Saskatoon – Various Venues
While this event offers some of the best Jazz music at a variety of venues, there will also be some Indie and Blues performances. Come check out Jazz in the City and Jazz in the Park. With so much music and live performances, there’s something for everyone.
June 26 – July 5
Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Festival
Location: Big River, Saskatoon
The Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Workshop Camp and Festival is a multi-day event dedicated to providing education and entertainment to Saskatchewan. The festival creates an environment where emerging and experienced musicians can come together and make music.

Southwest Region
Long Days Night Music Festival
Location: Swift Current – Big-top Tent at Marston St. And 11th Avenue SW
Celebrate the Summer Solstice with great music and lots of fun. Enjoy the longest three nights of the year listening to live music in downtown Swift Current. There will also be beer gardens and food vendors to complete the experience.

These are just a few of the wonderful music festivals and events taking place throughout Saskatchewan this summer. There are also a number of events and festivals happening in Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba and Alberta. Although some events require admission to the performances, many of the concerts are free. So, grab the kids and the sunscreen and get out there and enjoy the music!
