British Columbia is jammed packed with festivals this summer and music is definitely among the top for most entertaining. Whether it’s jazz, rock, folk, country, blues or any other musical style that suits your taste, there is a vast amount of live music performances taking place across the province to choose from.
So, to narrow it down, here is a guide to some of the music events and concerts happening in south eastern B.C. for the serious festival seeker. And the best part is - these concerts are all free!
British Columbia Rockies
Music in the Park
Location: Nakusp – Sparrow Lakes
Come enjoy free music with the whole family every Wednesday night in July and August. Bring a lawn chair and spend the evening relaxing to great music in a beautiful outdoor setting. Performances will be happening rain or shine so bring the sunscreen and the umbrella!

Thompson Okanagan
Music in the Park
Location: Kamloops – Riverside Park
The Rotary Bandshell at Riverside Park will be hosting free musical entertainment every night this summer. Local, national and international musicians will be performing, weather permitting. Check out the website for a full schedule and any last minute changes.

WOW Wednesday on the Wharf
Location: Salmon Arm – Salmon Arm Marine Park Gazebo
WOW Wednesday on the Wharf is a series of summer evening musical concerts. The performances will include everything from jazz and rock to Dixieland and folk. Held in the Salmon Arm Marine Park gazebo, listeners are invited to bring a deck chair or blanket to sit back and mellow out to great music. Admission by donation.
June 3 – August 26 Concerts begin at 7pm in June and July; 6:45pm in August.

Civic Sounds Concerts
Location: Vernon – Vernon Library & Museum
Downtown Vernon welcomes residents and visitors alike to experience the musical sounds of summer. Every Thursday night in July and August, guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to the Museum to enjoy live musicians and outdoor performances.
